Litha Celebration

21st June is most commonly known as being the Summer Solstice, or the ‘longest day’ of the year. This is because we (in the Northern Hemisphere) have hit the peak of the year and the beginning of official summertime. For us pagans & witches, it is the celebration of Litha.

During Summer Solstice we have the most hours of sunlight in the whole year (even if it is cloudy!!). This is a wonderful time to be putting your hopes and dreams into ACTIONS!

Back in Spring, we planted our seeds of intentions. The land was fertile and it was a season of realising what we want to manifest into our World. Litha offers us the magical, fiery abundance of the Father Sky energy, inspiring us to take charge and flourish with all that we had hoped for.

This is also a time of immense healing. Have you ever just sat in a peaceful place in nature, with the Sun beaming down on you? The way it gives your skin a warm glow, the rays permeating your whole self helping you feel balanced and restored. Use this time to reflect on the first half of your year, how has it been for you?

Why not pick some Oracle cards to help with some guidance?

Create a ritual

There are lots of ways you can celebrate Litha, including:

  • Making a flower crown (or failing that, a good old daisy chain!)
  • Make a fire (why not even dance around it!)
  • Pick and eat freshly grown fruit
  • Use honey in your baking & cooking
  • Eat outside with picnics & barbeques
  • Make bird feeders and hang them in your garden
